I met with the Creative Director at Different Perspective Productions today. Despite my still-gurgling belly [stupid stomach-flu!], it was an awesome occasion. The guy was both funny and intelligent, asking really great questions about my likes and dislikes in general. I felt like I was taking an oral Rorschach test, except that instead of receiving a diagnosis that I’m an over-eager and bubbly sociopath, this cool cat was able to determine what type of logo would be best for my brand.
We landed on the fact that I want a marriage between classic literature and modern writing tools represented in my logo, similar to the steampunk movement that’s taking the nation by storm.
Haven’t heard of steampunk? Neither had I before our meeting. Check out some awesome samples of the movement here:
Or what about this beauty?
I told him I love royal colors, plan to write for a young adult audience, and that I want my logo to portray both a comedic/bubbly author but still attract those seeking excitement and adventure. The old Victorian letters from fairy tales are a personal favorite and we discussed the possibility of doing some sort of play on the iconic piece with a modern twist.
To say I’m excited right now is an understatement; I’m ecstatic! We’re talking cart-wheel slinging, hula-hoop shuffling, give-away-free-candy kind of happy here, folks.
Different Perspective is a company that not only listens to me – they get me. They understand my product, my ideal demographic and target audience, and who I am as an entrepreneur. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a company [and individuals] who take my goals and my professional aspirations as seriously as I do. In fact, they might see more in me than I do, given their equal level of excitement for the project. An amazing and ego-boosting experience all around.
So, now this musing optimist will have to wait patiently to see the first pitch of their design in the coming weeks. I’m sure ANYTHING they produce will be fantastic but I really feel confident that they are going to find a way to truly personify me – as a writer and a person – with a brilliant logo that’s going to blow my mind. I’m practically shaking with anticipation.
The eager-beaver,
~ Victoria Elizabeth Ann
That keyboard is pretty awesome, but I collect typewriters and am often saddened by typewriter poachers for the keys. π¦ Although this appears to be in full and functional. I’m more against the jewelry ones. I’ve also seen a whole typewriter set up as a keyboard.

I would absolutely LOVE to have a typewriter set up as a keyboard! Did you know you can download an app that works with your Word for Mac to make the sounds of a typewriter when you type? It’s pricey, but worth it for the nostalgic feel!

I am confident in your abilities, Rob! And, if you totally screw it up, I promise to write no more than 47 blogs about my displeasure. Maybe 48. π
