Publication: Huffington Post

Last week my article, “I Lost Weight,” was published on the Huffington Post.

For those of you that may not follow my secondary blog, The Memoirs of a Yo-Yo Dieter, I have quite a history with my weight, my body image, and an eating disorder. I use my Memoirs blog to discuss the ups and downs of my struggle and the lifelong journey I am on to be healthy.

On a whim, I decided to summarize my body transformation and submit it to the HuffPost back in June and, amazingly, they picked it up!

This is my first MAJOR publication and it was quite humbling to see how many people responded to my story with praise, encouragement, and love. In fact, my article went over so well that DailyMail, an online publication based in the UK, picked the story up and ran their own article (with more pictures) about my dramatic weight loss.

I can’t describe to you the whirlwind of emotions and excitement that ensued, but let’s just say that I received phone calls from the producers of both Good Morning America and Inside Edition.

Yeah. I’m still dizzy.

Fortunately (for all of us), I will NOT be making any TV appearances any time soon. While I’m thrilled to share my story and discuss my weight loss on a personal level, I do not want to become famous for my body – even if it is a feel-good story. I am a writer, first and foremost, and my weight struggles are just one of the many topics I choose to explore.

Thank you to all of my friends, coworkers, dand peers that have continued to support my writing endeavors and I look forward to the opportunities that may present themselves as a result of this (short-lived) publicity.

Optimistic for more publications in the future!
