A few nights ago, I shared a poem on my other blog, The Memoirs of a Yo-Yo Dieter, entitled, “Why I Run.”
With the help of a good friend, I edited the poem down to make it more powerful, less wordy, and to make it “submission-ready” for a few contests.
Since I haven’t shared any new writing on here in a while, I decided to post the truncated version on here for feedback, critique, and any comments. 🙂
**********
Until the bitter voice
is silenced
forever
the evil whispers
skew my vision.
No matter how far I go
I cannot escape the ghost
She mocks.
I run.
The voice cannot shout
louder
Faster.
**********
For anyone that read the original version on my other blog – which do you prefer?
Thanks for reading!
~ Victoria Elizabeth
I really love it. Describes the feeling so well.

Thank you! It’s amazing the amount of emotions that can pump through you when you’re running. I’ve actually started to write down the thoughts as they race through my head, which is where this poem came from.
