5 of 5!

As of this morning, I’ve succeeded in my goal of 5-in-28 [See Who, me? for more information about this endeavor] and had my fifth publication! Hoorah! Woohoo! Yay! Well, that was easier than I expected. That just means it’s time to update my goal to make it more of a challenge. More to come on…

Autumn

Autumn has finally made an appearance in Florida. Can you feel it? The air is lighter, crisper. The breeze is fresh, laced with the sweet scent of pine needles and the smoky ash of long smoldering charcoal. The summer barbeques have ended, but their warm offerings still create a blanket across the houses long after…

Thank you.

I’ve realized today that someone very dear to me has chosen to remove themselves from my life. They haven’t said it, but I’ve grown to sense a progressive distance forming between us. The communications have run dry, the open door has gradually shut. It’s been happening slowly for weeks but I pretended not to notice,…

The waiting game…

Currently, I have over fifteen pieces of prose, poetry, and photography out in the world right now, waiting on a decision for publication. It’s an unnerving feeling. As can be expected, I’ve gotten a lot of rejection. More…

4 out of 5!

Well, looks like they published another article of mine on the school’s news blog! Woohoo! I never expected that I would be making such headway on my 5-in-28 goal [see, Who, me? for more information] this early in the year. Granted, three of the four publications I’ve had thus far have been for the school’s…

Life is fragile…

I just learned a few moments ago that the girlfriend of my husband’s friend passed away in her sleep last night. She was 29 years old. I didn’t know her very well, having only met her on a few occasions when we were invited over for a party or vice versa, when they came to…

Another day.

Whew. Life has been in hyper drive the past few days. Have you ever noticed that the summer months tend to crawl by [except when you’re in grade school – then they fly by like you’re at Nascar or something] and the second Autumn starts, everything starts speeding up? September came and went in a…
