Who can’t spare a $1?

OK, so a classmate of mine has been accepted for an extremely prestigious internship at the Cannes Film Festival. Yes, I said CANNES. Huge, right?

Unfortunately, she was given VERY little notice regarding the acceptance and has had less than three weeks to raise the money for the tuition. Tuition for the event is $3,500, which covers her room and breakfast daily, but doesn’t account for travel expenses and her additional meals. She estimates that she will need approximately $6,000 to cover her costs for the trip. As a full-time college student and disabled Army veteran living on her benefits, she has very little money to spare.

In an effort to help fund her trip, she started a fundraiser page on IndieGoGo and has since raised a little under $500 for the trip. She has less than 48 hours to come up with the minimum upfront funds [$3,500 for tuition] or she will have to decline the invitation. This is NOT AN OPTION, my friends.

I implore all of you: please take a moment to check out her IndieGoGo page and make a donation of ANY amount. Even $1 can make a difference. Then, please post her link on your Facebook/Twitter/Blog and help get the word out. This is a huge opportunity both for her [Hillary J. Walker [https://www.facebook.com/TheOriginalHillaryJ] but also for Full Sail University [www.fullsail.edu], where we both attend the Creative Writing BFA program.

You can find her IndieGoGo page here: http://www.indiegogo.com/Cannes2013

Seriously. One dollar. You can do it. So can your brother, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, uncle, and extended family. Heck, your dog can afford $1. Please. Help my friend get to Cannes!

Optimistic that social media will pull this off,
