A Parody of “Call Me, Maybe”

For those that don’t know, I work at a college in the Admissions Department. My team handles enrollment and paperwork processing from students all over the world, so it can get a little tedious/repetitive every now and then. To break the monotony, I write silly poems, limericks, and other nonsense whenever I alert the team that I’ll be the MOD for the evening.

Today, at work, I decided to get a little silly with my “Manager on Duty” email to the Department and I opted to tweak Carly Rae Jepsen’s infamous song, Call Me, Maybe.

Please enjoy:

For those of you who do not know the tune, here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5psw84V8Xc

I charged my headset all night,
I’ve got the leads in my sight,
My future be looking so bright,
And now you’ve made my day!

I’d trade my lunch for a call,
Pennies and dimes for them all,
“You shouldn’t wait for the Fall!”
You should enroll to-day!

Oh, Our beats be knockin’
Hot scripts, the films be rockin’
Our grads, their games be shockin’
Where you think you’re going? Hey!

Hey, I just called you,
And this is crazy,
But here’s our app, now –
So do it, maybe?

Don’t delay now,
Let’s do this, matey!
But here’s our app, now –
So do it, maybe?

And all the other students,
They try to chase me,
But here’s our app, now –
So do it, maybe?

You took your time with the app,
Your FAFSA be slow like it’s sap,
Come on I’ll buy you a frappe –
If you wrap it up today!

I beg and borrow and plead,
For the next hottest lead,
TOG, you’re making me bleed,
Where you think you’re going? Hey!

Hey, I just called you,
And this is crazy,
But here’s our app, now –
So do it, maybe?

Don’t delay now,
Let’s do this, matey!
But here’s our app, now –
So do it, maybe?

And all the other students,
They try to chase me,
But here’s our app, now –
So do it, maybe?

I hope you enjoyed my nonsense and it gave you a chuckle.
