The Global Peace Film Festival: Sept 17th-22nd in Orlando

Next week, the city of Orlando will be hosting the Global Peace Film Festival, a festival dedicated to the mission of promoting peace on a global scale.

This goes beyond an anti-war message.

The festival concentrates on the preservation and protection of human rights as a whole, tackling issues such as racism, sexism, child slavery, and many others head-on.

You can view the trailer for the 2013 festival below:

There are a total of 40 films playing at this year’s festival, spread out among 7 venues in the Orlando area. Rollins College, a primary sponsor, is hosting several of the showings right on their campus.

In addition to the film showings, the festival will be hosting several open panels – completely free for attendees – for aspiring filmmakers, peace advocates, or those just interested in learning more about the causes behind the films and the production methods to create them.

You can learn more about the Global Peace Festival by checking out their website or go straight to the virtual box office to pick up tickets. Make sure to check out the packages they offer, which offer priority seating to all screenings or a special weekend pass to ensure you can catch all of the showings on your day off.

If you are moved by the cause and want to volunteer, they are still looking for drivers and ushers for almost all of their events! Please contact me and I’ll send you the information for the Volunteer Coordinator, Penny Stout, so you can connect.

Hope to see you at the festival!
