Now that my husband and I are going on our 6th year of marriage this April, most people feel it’s appropriate – if not actually mandated in some way – to ask when we’re going to start popping out babies. The way they talk about it, it would seem that it’s my moral and cultural responsibility to pump one out at least every other year for the next decade. Should my husband invest in a catcher’s mitt to use in the delivery room? Yikes.
Don’t get me wrong – I absolutely LOVE children. My niece just turned seven months old on Monday and she is the light of my life. She is the happiest, sweetest, most peaceful little angel on the planet and I can’t imagine my world without her in it.

Seriously, isn’t that the cutest little face in the world? Awwwwwwwwww.
Until she starts crying. Then I’m tickled pink to hand her back to her equally awesome mother.
In case you didn’t know, I’m the proud mother of two adorable Chihuahuas, Taquito and Chiquita. Despite it being horrible for the psyche of my kids, I have a favorite: Taquito. He has his own Facebook page for Pete’s sake. We’ve had him since he was eleven weeks old and I’m pretty sure he thinks we’re his biological parents. He whines to be held, pouts when we don’t give in to his demands for treats, and we’re pretty sure he’s embarrassed of us when he’s around his other four-legged friends. Did I mention he HATES having his picture taken?
He gets embarrassed – isn’t that cute?
Really, though, what’s the big fuss about us not being ready for kids yet? Can’t two people just be happily married and enjoy spending time with each other and their little rat-dogs? Must we have children to be happy? I don’t think so.
Besides… I only have two arms. And they’re already filled with Taquito and Chiquita. So, unless I get around to drinking some water contaminated with radioactivity, I don’t have a free appendage to hold a child with at the moment.
With that said, babies can wait!
Optimistic for a good night’s sleep – no babies to wake me! 😉 Muahahahahaha.
